Follow Up: Stolen Movie Car Not a Real GT-R

Reports of the theft of . Nissan Skyline GT-. used during filming of the mega-hit Fast & Furious may be – slightly – exaggerated.

Yes,.. Nissan Skyline used during the filming of Fast & Furious was stolen from . warehouse in Sun Valley, California. But, according to Fast & Furious Picture Car Coordinator Dennis McCarthy, it wasn'… GT-.. Instead it was . less exotic Skyline GT-. model that had been redecorated as . GT-.. In fact it was wrecked during the production, sold by Universal Studios and then restored by new owner, drifting competitor Chris “Milano” Kregorian.

According to Milano, he was away in Georgia for the Formula . event at Road Atlanta this past weekend and returned to find the door of his shop in tatters and the Skyline missing. In getting the Skyline out of the shop, the thief (or thieves) hit several other vehicles including . Porsche Boxster,.. classic Studebaker and ./spy shots'69 Camaro..”There's blue paint from the Skyline on all of them,” Milano told over the phone. Since there was never any intent to drive the car (it would only be displayed), Milano had decided to forego insuring it.

While the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the theft, Milano has developed several promising leads of his own. And he has hired private investigators to follow those leads and is hopeful that he'll soon recover the car intact.
