Not much of . surprise here. With the finished version of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG coupe set to debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, development of an open-top version was inevitable.
This prototype of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster was caught during hot weather testing recently in Death Valley, CA. It has lost the coupe's trademark gullwing doors, but we doubt anyone who wants the ultimate convertible will really care.
The car still has the coupe's aggressive profile and monster wheelbase. And it's guaranteed to have the same 571-horsepower V8 under the hood too. That should make for a pleasant cruiser.
