WCF has previously reported that the North-American-market Buick Regal will closely resemble the Chinese-market one – and both models are derivatives of the European Car of the Year Award -winning Opel Insignia. Although GM has, in the past, degraded the value of many of its models and brands through gratuitous badge engineering, this particular move seems like . smart choice given how the Insignia is . successful and critically well-received model.
The newly revived Regal will not only feature . similar body style to the Insignia but will share many of the same components too. Engines expected are ..2.0 liter turbocharged powerplant with 217 hp, as well as ..2.8 liter turbocharged .6 with 256 hp. The Regal may even come to borrow the 2.8 liter turbo .6 from the Insignia OPC/VXR which is dialed up to 325 hp in Europe.
The Buick Regal is slated for release in the North American market in 2010 as ..2011 model. It will be placed below the LaCrosse in the Buick model range.
