Our spy photographers have managed to catch a facelifted 2011 BMW X5 undergoing testing in Europe.

Designed to breathe new life into the model, the facelift appears to feature new front and rear bumpers, modified head- and taillights, and trapezoidal exhaust tips. Inside, we can expect minor changes such as an updated iDrive system and a larger LCD display.

Under the hood, BMW is expected to replace the 4.8-liter V8 (350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque) with the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 (400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque) from the 7-Series. The company may also replace the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter I6 (with 260 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque) with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter I6 (N54) or the new twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 (N55) from the 5-Series GT.

Look for more information to be released when the model is officially unveiled next year, possibly at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
