1998-2004 Ford Ranger QuickLIFT Designation Beam
Step 1 – Unpack QuickLIFT pack and determine contents.
Mislay all items from the make-up tube. You should have a following before commencement:
* (2) Gas Springs – Be sure to cycle them the few times before installing!
* (4) 3/16? gold shafted rivets – for hood brackets
* (2) 3/16? Multi-grip rivets – center hole of hood brackets
* (4) 5/16? conduct self-tapping sheet steel screws – fender brackets
* (2) Fender Steel brackets – 90 degree point of view
* (2) Hood Steel brackets – 3-holes and angled
* Printed Instructions
* Gas open locking clips Commissioned on gas springs – mislay prior to assembly – DO NOT REMOVE
Step 2 – Accumulate the required collection.
Greatfully accumulate a following tools before you begin the installation:
* Power Drill
* (3/16? as well as indexed #11 pieces, & 5/32? cavalcade bit
* 5/16 socket as well as socket wrench
* Fine permanent marker or felt tip coop
* Tape Magnitude or ruler
* Produce & core punch
* Rivet gun, capable of 3/16? rivets Many brands can hoop this distance
Step 3 – Mark place of metalcover bracket.
THE. Leave metalcover closed. Locate a two focussed hood steel brackets – these brackets have been somewhat opened and have 3-holes.
B. Measuring from the hood corner (nearest a windshield), place a mark upon the square of masking fasten at the 25-1/2? symbol. Measure carefully. For Ranger FX4, measure 26-1/2? shown next.
C. Place bracket as shown – ball-stud should point external or divided from car with the back of a bracket resting firmly opposite a hood’s underneath makeup. Bring into line the symbol you just made with a centerline of the ball timber upon the bracket as shown
Step 4 – Mark reduce hole for training.
A. Land bracket in place, symbol the core of the reduce hole using the permanent felt tip marker. Be certain the bracket is true and sitting prosaic opposite hood’s underneath makeup.
B. Set joint in reserve. Using the center punch and a produce, tap the center of the mark you just made (this indention will help guide the drill bit and keep it from wandering). Place bracket behind in place to be certain it is still centered where it should be – aligning the ball-stud centerline with the mark.
Step 5 – Drill lower #11 or 3/16? hole.
A. Carefully drill the hole as shown to a right regulating the (#11 indexed bit) or (use 3/16? bit if #11 bit is not accessible. If you do not have a #11 indexed bit, you can use the 3/16? bit, however you may have to test fit a secure as well as slightly ream hole until secure fits tightly through joint and hole – 3/16? is slighty notasbig than the #11 bit. Hang a piece of electrical tape around a cavalcade bit about 1/4? from a tip to prevent the bit from denting the hood skin. Use new as well as sharp pieces!
Step 6 – Secure lower end of bracket to hood.
A. Reason a joint in onallsides.
B. With the bracket lined up again, place the secure through the bracket as well as hole with the long branch sticking outward. A secure may require a few twists whilst pulling it in.
C. Check to be sure your rivet gun has the 3/16? rivet conduct commissioned, then slip rivet gun onto secure. While applying downward force on rivet as well as bracket, firmly squeeze riveter handle multiple times until rivet gun pops and snaps off the rivet stem.
Step 7 – Cavalcade as well as secure top hole – then cavalcade as well as rivet hole in core of bracket.
A. Reposition or rotate joint into the proper position opposite hood lip. Carefully cavalcade a second hole through bracket hole and metalcover.
B. Rivet a upper hole – shown in Figure 1.
C. Then drill as well as secure a final secure A longer Aluminum rivet) into the center hole.
